Old Photographs

We're having a workshop on Thursday, April 14 from 11-2 at the studio -- How to turn your old family photos into ART.

It always felt like a natural fit for me to take old photographs, take a photo of them, print them in Black-and-white and to hand-paint them.

Several people look at my portraits and comment that it looks like the technique used back in the "old days."

Well, it is! When I paint on photographs, I use an oil paint that has to dry. Before color film, this is the way color was added to a photograph.

I love to do both, copy it exactly, or put my modern spin on it. By that I mean make the colors more vibrant, more modern.
